Current organizations and the crisis they do not want to see

Chapter introduction

Every organization goes through moments in which it keeps functioning, yet slowly stops evolving. Activities continue, meetings multiply, numbers are monitored, and daily urgency absorbs most of the energy. Still, beneath the surface, something begins to harden.

This first step of the journey invites us to go below the appearance of efficiency and look at the crisis many companies do not want to see: the loss of meaning, the distance between strategy and reality, and the confusion between movement and real change. At this stage, the point is not yet to find solutions, but to have the courage to look.

The descent begins here: when an organization stops telling itself what it would like to be and starts observing what it has truly become.
